U.S. Secretary of State Antony J. Blinken is set to host and deliver remarks at a special reception for NATO Allies and partners on July 9, 2024, at the U.S. Department of State.

The event is scheduled for 11:00 a.m. and will take place in the prestigious Benjamin Franklin State Dining Room. This reception will follow the NATO Women, Peace, and Security (WPS) roundtable discussion titled “Turning Vision into Action for WPS Across the Alliance,” an official side event of the NATO Washington Summit, which begins earlier that day at 9:30 a.m.

The roundtable discussion will feature prominent speakers, including Jennifer Klein, Assistant to the President and Director of the White House Gender Policy Council, and Geeta Rao Gupta, Ambassador-at-Large for Global Women’s Issues.

NATO’s Secretary General Special Representative Irene Fellin will provide remarks at both the roundtable and the reception.

The WPS reception aims to foster networking and collaboration among NATO Ministerial Allies, U.S. Government senior leaders, civil society representatives, and academia. This event underscores the shared commitments of NATO Allies and partners to advance the Women, Peace, and Security agenda within the alliance.

The focus on Women, Peace, and Security reflects NATO’s ongoing efforts to integrate gender perspectives into its operations and policies, recognizing the critical role women play in achieving sustainable peace and security. Secretary Blinken’s participation highlights the U.S. commitment to supporting these initiatives and promoting gender equality on a global scale.
