Qatar Airways has announced an expansion of its fleet with an order for 20 Boeing 777-9 aircraft, increasing its total number of commercial aircraft to 94.

The order also includes a commitment for 40 GE9X engines and spare engines, alongside a long-term services agreement to support the new fleet. The announcement was made by Qatar Airways Group Chief Executive Officer, Badr Al-Meer.

Al-Meer also introduced the Qsuite Next Gen, an upgraded version of the World’s Best Business Class, which will be featured on the new Boeing 777-9 aircraft.

The Qsuite Next Gen includes advanced features such as movable monitors with Bluetooth connectivity, companion suites with window views, larger lie-flat and double beds, lockable drawers, and a touchscreen passenger control unit.

“Qatar Airways is proud to announce this expansion of our Boeing 777X fleet, bringing our total to 94. As the World’s Best Airline, we are dedicated to providing unparalleled innovation and quality, ensuring our passengers receive the best products and services available,” Al-Meer stated.

Stephanie Pope, President and CEO of Boeing Commercial Airplanes, praised the partnership: “Qatar Airways is a leader in our industry, and we are honored that they have added 20 more 777-9 jets to their substantial Boeing order. This addition highlights their confidence in the Boeing 777X family’s fuel efficiency and exceptional passenger experience.”
