Zamfara Police Repel Bandit Attack, Neutralise Notorious Kingpin.

The Zamfara State Police Command successfully repelled an attack by armed bandits in Keta town, Tsafe Local Government Area, on Thursday, neutralising several criminals, including a notorious kingpin, Dan Mudale.

Swift Police Response

The Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Yazid Abubakar, confirmed the incident in a statement issued in Gusau. He revealed that a distress call was received at approximately 15:40hrs, alerting security forces that a large group of bandits had stormed Keta town with the intent to carry out violent acts.

“In response, a joint operation comprising the Police Mobile Force, Counter Terrorism Unit, hunters, and Community Protection Guards was swiftly mobilised. The team engaged the bandits in a fierce gun battle, successfully repelling the attack,” Abubakar stated.

Casualties and Security Reassurance

During the operation, a number of bandits were neutralised, including Dan Mudale, a notorious criminal who had long terrorised Tsafe and surrounding areas. However, the confrontation also resulted in casualties among security personnel and local defence groups.

“Regrettably, one police officer, four members of the Community Protection Guard, and two hunters lost their lives in the battle. Additionally, two hunters who sustained injuries are currently receiving treatment at the Federal Medical Centre in Gusau,” the police spokesperson added.

Commitment to Public Safety

The Zamfara Police Command reassured residents of its unwavering commitment to restoring peace and security across the state. It urged citizens to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to security agencies for prompt action.

This successful operation marks another step in the ongoing fight against banditry in Zamfara, as authorities continue efforts to protect communities from criminal elements.
