Victor Boniface Reflects on Missing AFCON 2023 Due to Injury

Victor Boniface, the recently crowned German Bundesliga champion with Bayer Leverkusen, opened up about the emotional challenge he faced when he had to sit out the 2023 African Cup of Nations in Ivory Coast due to injury.

Boniface’s absence was keenly felt by the Super Eagles of Nigeria during the tournament.

In an interview with AFP, Boniface expressed gratitude to those who stood by him during this tough period.

He acknowledged that missing such a significant event was one of the most painful moments in his career, not just because of the injury itself but also because of his absence from crucial games, including the AFCON.

Boniface reflected on the unpredictable nature of football, emphasizing the importance of maintaining the right attitude and mindset during challenging times. He credited the support of his club, Bayer Leverkusen, as crucial in coping with the setback.
