US Joins ECOWAS in Urging Constitutional Order Restoration in Niger

The United States has aligned itself with the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) in a collective call for the reinstatement of constitutional order in Niger.

ECOWAS’ steadfast commitment to exploring peaceful avenues for resolving the ongoing crisis has garnered appreciation from the United States.

Recognizing the pivotal role of democracy in fostering development, societal cohesion, and stability within Niger, the United States stands in solidarity with the country’s citizens, actively engaging in the pursuit of these shared objectives.

Amid this collaborative stance, the United States echoes ECOWAS’ forceful condemnation of the unlawful detainment of President Mohamed Bazoum, his family members, and government officials.

The disturbing and unacceptable conditions under which they are held further underscore the urgency for their immediate release.





Paralleling ECOWAS’ resolve, the United States pledges to hold the Council for the Safeguard of the Homeland (CNSP) accountable for ensuring the safety and security of President Bazoum, his family, and all those in custody.
