Singer Darlington Okoye, aka Speed Darlington, spent his Christmas and Boxing Day in police custody, despite being granted bail by the court.

His lawyer, Stan Alieke, expressed frustration over the situation, stating that the criticisms against Speed Darlington for defaming Burna Boy are overemphasized, and the main concern should be securing the singer’s release.

Speed Darlington was arrested for allegedly insulting Burna Boy. His lawyer argued that the police’s failure to release him despite the court’s order is a sign of disrespect to the judiciary. Human rights activist and lawyer Deji Adeyanju also condemned the police’s actions.

The incident has sparked heated debates among Nigerians, with some criticizing Burna Boy for allegedly using his influence to keep Speed Darlington in custody.
