The Lagos State Government has taken another decisive step toward strengthening its education oversight system with the appointment of Dr. Sulaimon Olagoke Ogunmuyiwa as the new Director-General of the Office of Education Quality Assurance (OEQA).

Announced by Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, the appointment marks a strategic move to enhance the monitoring, evaluation, and overall quality of education across the state. Dr. Ogunmuyiwa, a seasoned education administrator with over two decades of experience, is expected to bring renewed leadership and expertise to the agency’s mandate of ensuring excellence in both public and private schools.

Presentation of Appointment Letter

The formal presentation of the appointment letter took place on Thursday, December 11, 2025, at the Office of the Head of Service, Secretariat, Alausa, Ikeja. The letter was presented by the Head of Service, Mr. Bode Agoro, who congratulated Dr. Ogunmuyiwa and reaffirmed the administration’s confidence in his capability to steer the OEQA toward improved service delivery.

Profile of the New Director-General

Dr. Sulaimon Olagoke Ogunmuyiwa is a distinguished education administrator with over 25 years of progressive experience in quality assurance, school evaluation, educational planning, and leadership within the Lagos State public service.





His academic background includes:

  • PhD in Educational Administration and Planning – University of Abuja

  • Master’s degrees in Educational Administration and in Guidance & Counselling

  • Bachelor’s degree in Education – University of Lagos

Throughout his career, Dr. Ogunmuyiwa has held several strategic positions, including:

  • Head of Planning, OEQA

  • Head of Education Quality Assurance Services

  • Director, Private Education and Special Programmes (most recent role)

In these capacities, he has overseen key initiatives such as school accreditation, quality monitoring, and systemic improvement across public and private institutions. His exemplary service has earned him multiple awards, notably repeated recognition as the Best Staff of OEQA between 2012 and 2022.

Professional Contributions and Achievements

Dr. Ogunmuyiwa is an active member of several professional bodies and has made notable contributions to:

  • Teacher professional development

  • School improvement and accountability frameworks

  • Community-focused educational initiatives

He is also widely regarded as a mentor to both civil servants and young professionals, having facilitated numerous training programmes for governmental and private organisations.

Remarks by the Head of Service

In his congratulatory message, the Head of Service, Mr. Bode Agoro, praised Dr. Ogunmuyiwa’s dedication and leadership qualities. He expressed optimism that the new Director-General would elevate the standards of education quality assurance in Lagos State.

Mr. Agoro stated:
