In a gathering at the State House during Ramadan Iftar, President Bola Tinubu urged religious leaders to refrain from vilifying Nigeria in their sermons and instead focus on praying for the nation’s prosperity.

He emphasized their crucial role in shaping public opinion and fostering unity among citizens, urging constructive criticism of elected officials.

Tinubu reiterated his administration’s commitment to transforming challenges into opportunities, stressing that terrorism cannot crush the collective will of Nigerians.

He called for a strong collaboration between traditional and religious leaders and the government to combat terrorism and other forms of criminality.

During the event, Vice-President Kashim Shettima highlighted the importance of religious and traditional rulers in promoting peace and unity, commending the government’s efforts in revitalizing the economy.

The Ooni of Ife and Emir of Zazzau expressed support for the government’s initiatives and pledged to work together for the nation’s betterment. Apostle Samson Fatokun of CAN praised Tinubu for fostering a harmonious relationship between the state and the church, pledging continued support for the administration’s endeavors.

The gathering, attended by representatives of Muslim and Christian communities, coincided with Maundy Thursday, symbolizing unity and reflection across religious lines.

The event underscored the significance of collaboration between religious leaders and the government in addressing national challenges and fostering a sense of unity and hope among Nigerians.
