NFF Backs Edo Queens For CAF Women’s Champions League Glory.

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has expressed confidence in Edo Queens’ ability to win the 2024 CAF Women’s Champions League, following their stunning 2-1 victory over defending champions Mamelodi Sundowns.

NFF President, Alhaji Ibrahim Musa Gusau, commended the team’s remarkable fighting spirit, which saw them come from behind to secure a semi-final berth in the ongoing tournament in Morocco.

“The NFF and the entire Nigerian football family are immensely proud of Edo Queens’ achievements,” Gusau stated. “From winning the WAFU B title to reaching the semi-finals of the CAF Women’s Champions League, they have showcased resilience, determination, and ambition.”

He also praised the Edo State Government and other stakeholders for their contributions to the team’s progress, adding that the victory over Mamelodi Sundowns exemplified the indomitable Nigerian spirit.

Edo Queens are set to face TP Mazembe of DR Congo in the first semi-final on Tuesday at 4 pm Moroccan time. The second semi-final will see AS FAR of Morocco take on Masar of Egypt later that evening.

Gusau expressed confidence in the team’s ability to go all the way: “I believe they have been highly inspired by their latest victory and have the capacity to lift the trophy.”

Edo Queens’ impressive campaign has not only ignited hope for Nigerian football fans but also underscored the growing strength of women’s football in the country. With their eyes on the prize, the Queens aim to bring the prestigious title back to Nigeria.
