Olaniyi Mubaraq, the overall best graduating student from Lagos State University (LASU), has been rewarded with a ₦10 million prize by the Executive Governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu.

The announcement was made by Governor Sanwo-Olu himself during the grand finale of LASU’s 27th convocation ceremony on Thursday. The governor arrived at the university’s campus at 12:38 pm local time.

Mubaraq, who studied Accounting Education, achieved an exceptional cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 4.98 out of 5.0, making him the top graduating student in the 2023/2024 academic session.

In addressing the gathering, Governor Sanwo-Olu commended Mubaraq’s outstanding academic performance and stated that the ₦10 million reward is a testament to the state government’s commitment to supporting and incentivizing excellence in education.

“We celebrate Olaniyi Mubaraq’s remarkable achievement and hope that his story will inspire other students to strive for greatness,” the governor said. “Lagos State will continue to invest in quality education and recognize those who exemplify the virtues of hard work and dedication.”

Mubaraq expressed his gratitude to the governor and the university authorities for the recognition and financial reward, stating that it would greatly assist him in pursuing further academic endeavors.

The 27th convocation ceremony at LASU witnessed the graduation of thousands of students across various disciplines, with Mubaraq’s accomplishment serving as a shining example of the institution’s academic excellence.
