Former Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, has expressed deep sorrow over the deadly attack on worshippers at the Christ Apostolic Church (CAC), Oke Isegun, in Eruku, Ekiti Local Government Area of Kwara State.

The tragic incident claimed several lives and left many others injured, plunging the community into mourning.

In a statement on Thursday, Mohammed described the attack as a “gruesome and senseless assault” on innocent citizens, calling it a painful blow to the entire nation. “I am devastated by this loss of life,” he said, highlighting the scale of the tragedy.

He extended his thoughts and prayers to the bereaved families, offering his heartfelt condolences to all affected by the attack. Mohammed also wished the injured a speedy recovery and prayed for strength and healing for families struggling with the aftermath of the violence.

Mohammed praised the swift response of Kwara State Governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, noting that both leaders acted promptly to address the humanitarian needs of the victims and deployed security forces to track down the perpetrators.

“Their timely intervention underscores the commitment of the state and federal governments to safeguard lives and ensure justice is served,” Mohammed added, emphasizing the importance of decisive action in times of crisis.

He urged Nigerians to remain united and vigilant as the Eruku community continues to cope with the tragedy. Recall that Alhaji Lai Mohammed served as Minister of Information and Culture from 2015 to 2023.
