IGP Redeploys 40 Senior Police Officers Across Nigeria

The Inspector-General of Police, Usman Alkali Baba, has ordered the posting and redeployment of 40 senior police officers to various commands and formations nationwide. 

The affected officers include 14 Assistant Inspectors-General of Police (AIGs) and 26 Commissioners of Police (CPs). The police spokesman Muyiwa Adejobi said the reshuffle reflects the elevation of the officers to their new ranks. 

Force Public Relations Officer, Muyiwa Adejobi, listed the AIGs as follows:

  •  Zone 7 Abuja – AIG Ogundele Joshua Ayodeji
  •  Zone 11 Osogbo – AIG Patrick Ogon Edung
  •  Border Patrol FHQ – AIG Badru Banji Lawal, mni
  •  Zone 8 Lokoja – AIG Bartholomew N. Onyeka
  •  DOPS FHQ – AIG Suleiman A. Yusuf, mni
  •  FCID Annex Alagbon Lagos – AIG Idowu Owohunwa
  • Maritime Lagos – AIG Rhoda Adetutu Olofu
  • . Zone 13 Ukpo Dunukofia Awka – AIG Godwin N. Aghaulor
  •  ONSA Abuja – AIG Effiom Emmanuel Ekot
  • . CTU FHQ Abuja – AIG Anene Ndu Innocent
  •  Zone 16 Yenagoa – AIG Odama Paul Ojeka
  • . Zone 4 Makurdi – AIG Ebong E. Eyibio, mni
  •  Zone 17 Akure – AIG Adebowale Williams
  •  Investment FHQ Abuja – AIG Sahabo A. Yahaya, mni

  •  Anti-Human Trafficking – CP Shehu Kabir Abubakar
  •  Border Patrol FHQ – CP Lawal Babatunde Ayodeji

The AIGs were deployed to police zone commands, border patrol, investigation units, and other strategic formations. 





Similarly, the CPs were posted to state commands in Benue, Jigawa, Niger, Gombe, Imo, Rivers, and others. Some will head border patrol, safer highways, anticorruption, technology units, and colleges.

IGP Baba charged the redeployed officers to align with the police vision and support government’s economic agenda.

The police chief said the postings take immediate effect as part of strategies to reposition the force for optimal service delivery.
