Former Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike Allegedly Collapses In Abuja Meeting, Flown To France Amid Health Concerns.

In a startling development, Nyesom Wike, the former Governor of Rivers State and current Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, allegedly collapsed during a meeting in Abuja yesterday. Sources claim the incident was triggered by excessive alcohol consumption, reportedly leading to a partial stroke. Wike has since been whisked away to France for medical treatment, though doubts and speculation swirl around the official narrative.

The alleged collapse occurred during a high-level meeting in the capital, where Wike is said to have suddenly lost consciousness. According to unverified reports, he was rushed to the State House Clinic, where doctors purportedly detected a high level of alcohol in his system, which they claim contributed to the stroke. Insiders allege that his condition was deemed serious enough to warrant an immediate transfer to a hospital in France for advanced care.

A source, who requested anonymity, suggested that the situation escalated quickly. “They say he was stabilised briefly before being flown out,” the source remarked. “But it all happened so fast—people are questioning what really went on.” Details remain murky, with no official confirmation from Wike’s team or government authorities to substantiate the claims.

The news of Wike’s supposed health crisis has ignited a firestorm of speculation across Nigeria. Known for his larger-than-life persona and commanding presence in politics, the former governor has long been a polarising figure. His rapid departure to France has only deepened public scepticism, with many questioning whether the story holds water. On social media, reactions range from concern to outright disbelief, with some suggesting the incident might be a convenient cover for other undisclosed issues.

Wike, who transitioned from governing Rivers State to his current role as FCT Minister in 2023, has built a reputation as a formidable and controversial leader. His ambitious projects and brash style have earned him both loyal supporters and fierce critics. Yet, this alleged health scare has cast a shadow over his future, with sceptics wondering if it’s a genuine emergency or a strategic retreat from mounting political pressures.

As of now, no official updates have emerged regarding Wike’s condition in France—if indeed he is there. The lack of transparency has only fuelled doubts, leaving Nigerians to ponder the truth behind the man they’ve come to view with equal parts admiration and suspicion. For a figure like Wike, whose every move is scrutinised, the public remains wary, awaiting clarity amid a haze of rumour and mistrust.

Further updates expected as more information surfaces.
