Rasmus Hojlund back on the score sheet after long drought to help Manchester United conquer Newcastle 3:2 at the Old Trafford Stadium.

Manchester United fans erupted in jubilation as Rasmus Hojlund ended his 10-game scoring drought to seal a thrilling victory for the Red Devils in an electrifying encounter against Newcastle at Old Trafford.

The stakes were high for Erik ten Hag’s side, knowing that anything other than a win would condemn them to their lowest league finish in 34 years. However, their determination and resilience shone through, propelling them to a crucial victory that keeps their European dreams alive.

Kobbie Mainoo set the tone for the match, putting Manchester United ahead after 31 minutes with a composed finish from 10 yards, courtesy of an excellent assist from Kieran Trippier.

Newcastle, undeterred, fought back valiantly, with Anthony Gordon leveling the score just four minutes into the second half. Manchester United faced a tense moment when Sofyan Amrabat made a brilliant tackle to deny Newcastle a goal-scoring opportunity, showcasing the defensive grit of the Red Devils.

Amad Diallo, seizing the moment, drove home his first Premier League goal just before the hour mark, capitalizing on a corner to put Manchester United back in front. Despite Newcastle’s relentless efforts, including a near-miss from Miguel Almiron, it was Hojlund who ultimately sealed the victory with a composed finish into the bottom corner, marking his 15th goal of the season.

Although Newcastle’s Lewis Hall fired home a late goal in stoppage time, Manchester United held firm to secure the win and maintain their European aspirations.

With the final day of the season looming, Newcastle faces a decisive battle against Brentford to secure a top-seven finish, while Manchester United eyes a Europa League spot, pending their performance in the FA Cup final against Manchester City at Wembley on 25th May.

The thrilling victory at Old Trafford showcased Manchester United’s resilience, attacking prowess, and determination to end the season on a high note, setting the stage for an exciting conclusion to the Premier League campaign.
