Edo Queens Target Historic CAF Women’s Champions League Final.

Edo Queens are poised to make history as the first Nigerian team to reach the final of the CAF Women’s Champions League when they face TP Mazembe in the semi-final today. The team’s determination follows their dramatic quarter-final victory over reigning champions Mamelodi Sundowns, secured with two last-minute goals.

Coach Moses Aduku has emphasised the importance of a focused, step-by-step approach, which has been key to Edo Queens’ success in the tournament. Speaking ahead of the match, Aduku expressed gratitude for the team’s progress so far, saying,

“We want to thank God for bringing us this far. The last game was tough, but we managed to push through. As always, we’ll take it one game at a time, correcting our mistakes and building on our strengths.”

Young striker Chioma Olise echoed the team’s aspirations, highlighting their ambition to go beyond the semi-finals. She said,

“Qualifying for the semi-finals is already a great achievement, but we’re not stopping here. We’re ready to play and determined to reach the final and bring the trophy home.”

Edo Queens’ journey to the semi-finals has been remarkable, capped by their quarter-final triumph over Mamelodi Sundowns, a match described as a nail-biting encounter. As they prepare to take on TP Mazembe at 3 pm Nigerian time, the players and coaching staff remain optimistic about their chances.

Victory today would not only mark a milestone for Edo Queens but also set a new benchmark for Nigerian women’s football on the continental stage. Fans across the country are rallying behind the team as they aim to etch their name in the history books.
