Rivers United orchestrated a stunning comeback to secure a 2-1 triumph over Dreams FC in their decisive final group stage encounter of the CAF Confederation Cup (CAFCC)

Rivers United found themselves in a contest where the only posible result for them to advance is by getting the maximum 3 point.

However they faced a formidable Dreams FC side that had emerged victorious in the first leg.

Initially facing adversity, the Pride of Rivers found themselves trailing after Abdul Aziz Issah’s goal in the 40th minute.

However, they showcased resilience in the second half, with Deputy Echeta restoring parity with a well-taken goal in the 61st minute, setting the stage for a thrilling finale. Despite Dreams FC’s attempts to stall the game with time-wasting tactics, Rivers United persisted.

Their persistence paid off deep into stoppage time, as Kazie Godswill capitalized on a goalmouth scramble to fire home from close range, clinching a dramatic 2-1 victory.

Kazie Eyinnaya’s heroics completed the comeback for Rivers United, securing their passage to the next round of the competition.

With this crucial win, Rivers United secured the second spot in their group, trailing behind Dreams FC, who boasted a superior goal difference. The team now eagerly awaits the draw to determine their opponents in the upcoming quarter-final
