Abuja, Nigeria — In a decisive move that will reshape the political dynamics in Sokoto State and beyond, Senator Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, CFR, representing Sokoto South Senatorial District, has officially resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Persistent Party Divisions Prompt Exit

Leadership Disagreements Undermine Unity

In his formal resignation letter, Senator Tambuwal highlighted persistent internal crises and leadership conflicts within the PDP as the driving forces behind his departure. He noted that these issues have eroded the party’s unity and hindered his ability to effectively serve and participate in its activities.

Political Stalwart Ready for New Horizons

From Speaker to Senator, A Proven Leader

Tambuwal’s political career is marked by significant achievements and leadership roles. He served as the Speaker of the House of Representatives from 2011 to 2015, where he was lauded for his reformist agenda and commitment to democratic principles.

Following this, he was elected Governor of Sokoto State from 2015 to 2019, successfully implementing policies aimed at social development and economic growth. Currently, he is a respected Senator and Chairman of the Senate Committee on Housing & Urban Development.

Official Move to African Democratic Congress (ADC)

A Strategic Shift for Sokoto and Nigeria

Senator Tambuwal’s resignation paves the way for his official entry into the African Democratic Congress (ADC). This strategic realignment reflects his ongoing commitment to political reform and national progress. The ADC stands to gain a seasoned leader whose influence and experience will bolster its position on the national stage.

Impact on Political Landscape

A Catalyst for Change

Tambuwal’s departure from the PDP is expected to trigger significant shifts in Sokoto’s political alliances and the broader Nigerian political arena. His move to ADC signals fresh opportunities for collaboration and development under a new banner.
