On Thursday, a wedding convoy in Damari town, Sabuwa Local Government Area of Katsina State, was targeted by suspected bandits, Reports confirm that at least 55 wedding guests, who were escorting a bride home, were kidnapped in a brazen attack.

Details reveal that the victims were traveling in an open van referred to as a canter vehicle when the hoodlums launched their ambush. Regrettably, the attempt to rescue the abducted guests resulted in the loss of three local security volunteers.

The targeted wedding guests numbered over 70, primarily friends of the bride, and some managed to escape by leaping off the moving canter van during the hijacking.

The incident underscores the persistent security challenges in the Sabuwa area, which has been grappling with the presence of bandits and their accomplices serving as informants.

Chairman of Dandume Local Government Area, Alhaji Basiru Musa, confirmed the distressing incident. Unconfirmed reports suggest that a few kidnapped women may have escaped, and Chairman Musa has committed to verifying and providing updates on their status.
