Athletes are ramping up their preparations ahead of the 19th Nigeria Oil and Gas Industry Games in Abuja.

Representing various companies, athletes are currently in training camps across different locations, fine-tuning their strategies for the games scheduled to run from April 21 to 27 at the Moshood Abiola National Stadium in Abuja.

Teams from prominent companies like NNPC, SHELL, TOTAL ENERGIES, NCDMB, NMDPRA, NUPRC, ARADEL, OANDO, SEPLAT, NLNG, CHEVRON, PTI, and EXXONMOBIL will compete across thirteen sports, including Athletics, Golf, Chess, Football, Table Tennis, and Tennis. Other sports such as Squash, Badminton, Swimming, Basketball, Volleyball, Eight-Ball Pool, and Scrabble will also be featured.

The final day’s activities will showcase the climactic moments of the male and female 100 and 200 meters races, the 4×100 meters relay, and the championship football match between NCDMB and NLNG.

Preliminaries for the football segment took place in March at the Shell Residential Area in Port Harcourt, where NCDMB triumphed over NNPC in a tense semi-final, while NLNG secured victory against NMDPRA.

Among the athletes, Joe Adebayor from Team NCDMB, participating in Table Tennis, has dedicated long hours to training in Lagos at the Knock-up hall, National Stadium, Surulere.

“We’re leaving no stone unturned. Our aim is to compete fiercely and secure medals for our company. That’s why I’m putting in the hard work,” Adebayor remarked, emphasizing the team’s determination to excel in the upcoming event.
