Want to know the best tips for making the perfect smoothie?

The number trick is, freeze all the ingredients ahead of time. All of them! Even the nuts. When everything is uniformly cold, it blends better, according to experts. Of course, the temptation is to cut corners and use ice. Don’t do it. Don’t use ice.

If you are the type that likes to make smoothies all the time, it is advisable that you freeze the ingredients in larger amounts and just portion out what you need when you need it. After freezing them, put them in a freezer bag until needed. They can keep in good condition for about 6 months in the freezer.

Back to the smoothie, frozen ingredients not only mix better frozen, the are creamier and smoother, as opposed to when one uses fresh ingredients, a mix of frozen and fresh ingredients or using ice.

This is one of then reasons why your smoothies have been chunky and less appealing to your palate than those you buy from the fancy restaurants in the leafy parts of Kampala.

Again, skip the ice. The only frozen items you want in your blender are your food ingredients. Ice just takes up a bunch of space and leaves less room for the good stuff. It also waters down your mixture making the smoothie not as flavorful.

Bonus – add cauliflower

Frozen cauliflower is a great addition into smoothies because it makes smoothies super creamy.

Plus you won’t smell it or taste it in the drink – so long as you use it frozen. Sweet potatoes, kale, and spinach are other great contenders frozen.
