Texas Representative To File Impeachment Articles Against Trump

In defense of what tagged “injustice,” Al Green, a Democratic lawmaker representing Texas in the US house of representatives, has said he would be filing impeachment articles against Donald Trump over his plan to “take over Gaza”.

The US president in a joint press conference with Israeli Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu on Tuesday, said the US will take over the Gaza Strip to “dismantle and develop it”.

“Gaza is a hellhole,” Donald Trump said

Gaza has been reduced to rubble following the recent escalation of hostilities between Hamas, the Palestinian militant group, and Israel.

The Guardian reports, Green said Trump’s plan was a “dastardly deed”, adding that “ethnic cleansing in Gaza is not a joke, especially when it emanates from the President of the United States”.

“And the prime minister of Israel should be ashamed, knowing the history of his people, to stand there and allow such things to be said,” he added.

“Dr. King was right. Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere, and injustice in Gaza is a threat to justice in the United States of America.

“I rise to announce that the movement to impeach the president has begun. I rise to announce that I will bring articles of impeachment against the president for dastardly deeds proposed, and dastardly deeds done.”

Green said the “impeachment movement is going to be a grass-up movement, not a top-down”, and that “when the people demand it, it will be done”.

Green launched a raft of unsuccessful impeachment attempts against Trump during the president’s first term in office.

His latest effort is unlikely to gain much traction as impeachment is not seen as an immediate agenda for his party.
