President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has appointed Jamiu Abiola as the Senior Special Assistant (SSA) to the President on Linguistics and Foreign Matters. The appointment, effective from 14th November 2024, was confirmed in a statement issued on Wednesday by Segun Imohiosen, the Director of Information and Public Relations in the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation.

Jamiu Abiola, the son of the late Chief Moshood Abiola, the acclaimed winner of the annulled 1993 presidential election, previously served as the Special Assistant to the President on Special Duties in the Office of the Vice-President.

The statement read: “President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the appointment of Jamiu Abiola as the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Linguistics and Foreign Matters. The appointment takes effect from 14th November, 2024, in line with the provisions of the Certain Political and Judicial Office Holders (Salaries and Allowances, etc) Act 2008, as amended.”

Highlighting Abiola’s expertise, the statement added that he is expected to work closely with the Federal Ministry of Foreign Affairs, using his experience and skills to strengthen Nigeria’s linguistic and diplomatic engagements.

President Tinubu has expressed confidence in Abiola’s ability to excel in his new role, emphasising the importance of collaboration and strategic input in advancing the nation’s foreign policy objectives.

This appointment reinforces the government’s commitment to leveraging experienced professionals in addressing critical areas of national interest.
