Recall that military personnel on a peace mission to Okuoma community in Bomadi Local Government Area of Delta State were ambushed and killed on Thursday, March 14, 2024

The troops from the 181 Amphibious Battalion were responding to a distress call stemming from a communal crisis between Okuoma and Okoloba communities.

Reports indicate that the troops, including a reinforcement team led by the Commanding Officer, were surrounded and attacked by youths from the Okuoma community.

The ambush resulted in the death of the Commanding Officer, two Majors, one Captain, and twelve soldiers.

In response to the heinous crime, General Christopher Gwabin Musa, the Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), has ordered an immediate investigation and the arrest of those involved.

The incident has also been reported to the Delta State Government.

Despite this setback, the military reaffirms its dedication to maintaining peace and security in the country. Several arrests have already been made, and efforts are underway to uncover the motive behind the attack.
