Lagos Emerges As Africa’s Second-Largest City Economy.

Lagos State has solidified its position as Africa’s second-largest city economy, with a Gross Domestic Product (GDP) of $259 billion based on purchasing power parity (PPP). This milestone highlights the city’s economic strength, the resilience of its people, and its status as a leading commercial hub on the continent.

Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu celebrated this achievement, stating, “Lagos is not just growing; we are leading.” He emphasised that the city’s economic success is not merely about numbers but reflects the vibrancy, competitiveness, and cost-of-living advantage that Lagos offers.

Lagos continues to be at the forefront of Africa’s economic transformation, driven by robust advancements in infrastructure, technology, tourism, and manufacturing. The state’s commitment to sustainable development has positioned it as a key player in global and African economic discussions.

With ongoing projects aimed at improving urban development, transportation, and business opportunities, Lagos is set to further strengthen its role as a leading hub for investment and innovation. “The best is yet to come,” the governor concluded, expressing confidence in the city’s bright future.
