Sokoto State Governor, Ahmed Aliyu has received sixty-six victims of kidnap rescued by the troops of the Joint Task Force North West ‘Operation Hadarin Daji’, OPHD, of the Nigerian Army.

While receiving the victims, the governor applauded the troops of the Nigerian Army and other security operatives for their efforts towards ensuring peace in the State.

“Today, we witnessed another significant milestone, as our security operatives succeeded in rescuing 66 victims who were kidnapped from various villages and communities in Isah local government area of the state,” he said.

Aliyu disclosed that by the information gathered, the feat was recorded on Thursday, 22 December, 2023, when 52 victims were rescued, while 14 victims were rescued on Saturday, which made them 66.

He added that his administration recently donated eighty (80) vehicles to all security agencies to enhance their operations across the state.

Governor Aliyu urged the people of the state to always provide useful information to security agencies for the state’s overall security.

Earlier, while presenting the rescued victims to the governor, the Garrison Commander 8 Division, Nigerian Army, Brigadier General Alex Tawasimi, said the feat was in continuation of the onslaught against terrorists.

The rescued victims include 14 males, 32 females, and 6 children who have undergone a medical check-up and debrief and have now been handed over to the state government to reunite them with their families.

The garrison commander commended the governor for his support towards the success of their operations, assuring that the Nigerian Army will continue to do all it can to ensure peace in Sokoto State and its environs.
