Justice Inyang Ekwo of the Federal High Court in Abuja has refused the request by the Lamidi Apapa’s faction to stop the candidate of the Labour Party, Athan Achonu from contesting this Saturday’s Governorship election in Imo State on the platform of the party. An appeal court sitting in Lagos, on Friday, upheld the election of Barr Peter Mbah as the governor of Enugu State. The judgement was delivered by a three-man panel of the Appeal Court in a case filed by Barr Chijioke Edeoga of the Labour Party, LP. The court affirmed the judgment of Enugu Tribunal delivered on September 9, 2023, by the Hon. Justice K.M. Akano led tribunal. All the three issues which were subject of the appeal were resolved in favour of Mbah of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.

The 26-year-old midfielder sustained the injury in Tottenham’s chaotic 4-1 defeat by Chelsea in the Premier League on Monday. Colombian-born Liverpool footballer Luis Díaz’s father has been released by the left-wing guerrillas who kidnapped him 13 days ago, police sources and local media say. Luis Manuel Díaz was handed over to United Nations and Catholic church officials by members of the National Liberation Army (ELN). He was abducted on 28 October in the family’s hometown, Barrancas. The footballer’s mother was also seized, but was freed within hours.
