Oba Of Benin Suspends 67 Enigie Over Alleged Rebellious Activities.

The Oba of Benin, His Royal Majesty Omo N’Oba N’Edo, Uku Akpolokpolo, Ewuare II, has suspended 67 Enigie (traditional rulers) in Benin Kingdom over allegations of anti-palace and rebellious activities.

This was disclosed in a statement issued by the Secretary of the Benin Traditional Council, Frank Irabor, on Friday.

According to the statement, the affected Enigie were sanctioned for their alleged disloyalty to the revered Benin throne and for engaging in actions deemed detrimental to the traditional institution.

The suspension marks a significant move by the Benin monarch in his efforts to uphold the integrity of the kingdom’s leadership and reinforce the authority of the traditional system.

While further details regarding the specific actions of the suspended Enigie were not provided, the development underscores the Oba’s commitment to preserving the customs and heritage of the Benin Kingdom.

The Benin Traditional Council is expected to provide further guidance on the implications of the suspension and any possible steps for redress or reinstatement of the affected traditional rulers.
