Explosion Rocks Jos, Leaving Many Feared Dead.

A powerful explosion shook Jos on Tuesday morning, causing widespread panic and fear in the bustling Terminus market area. The blast, which occurred around 10:30 am, left several people injured, and there are fears that it may have resulted in fatalities, although the exact toll is still unclear.

Eyewitnesses described the scene as devastating and chaotic, with people running in panic amidst the destruction. Gyang Buba, a clothes vendor near the site, recounted the moment: “I was nearby when I heard a loud bang. I saw people running and screaming. It was terrifying.”

Emergency response teams, including police, fire services, and ambulances, arrived swiftly at the scene to aid those affected. Authorities have cordoned off the area, and investigations are underway to determine the cause of the explosion.

The Plateau State Police Command has yet to issue an official statement, and efforts to reach their spokesperson, Alabo Alfred, were unsuccessful. However, security sources within the command confirmed the incident and assured the public that every effort is being made to ensure safety in the city.

This tragic event has heightened security concerns in Jos, a city that has experienced episodes of violence in recent years. Many residents are now urging the authorities to strengthen security measures to protect vulnerable areas.

Further updates on the situation are expected as the investigation progresses.
