Kevin De Bruyne Inspires Belgium to Crucial Euro 2024 Victory Over Romania.

Kevin De Bruyne delivered a masterful performance to guide Belgium to their first Euro 2024 victory, securing a thrilling win over Romania in Cologne.

Belgium, under pressure after their opening defeat to Slovakia, responded with a stellar attacking display that reaffirmed their status as tournament favourites in Germany.

In a vibrant and colourful atmosphere, Youri Tielemans set the tone with a low drive that put Belgium ahead after just 73 seconds. This early goal laid the groundwork for Belgium to create numerous chances throughout the match.

Despite their dominance, Belgium found Romania resilient. Romelu Lukaku experienced frustration as his goal was ruled out by the Video Assistant Referee, marking his third disallowed goal of the tournament, this time for being offside from De Bruyne’s perfect pass.

However, Belgium and De Bruyne were determined. The Manchester City midfielder sealed the victory by poking home from close range in the 79th minute, ensuring a crucial win that leaves Group E finely balanced, with all four teams on three points.

Belgium Back on Track

Belgium, having put themselves under pressure with their initial loss to Slovakia, showcased their resilience in a high-paced encounter on Saturday. Tielemans’ early strike calmed any nerves, allowing Belgium to take control against a Romania side that posed occasional threats but failed to capitalise on their rare chances.

Lukaku’s disallowed goal by VAR highlighted his ongoing misfortune, but De Bruyne’s pass signalled his return to top form—exactly what Belgium needs to progress further in the tournament.
