Guinea has qualified for the quarter finals after defeating Equatorial Guinea in the dying minutes of their round 16 clash in Cote d’Ivoire. (Govima Sport Reports)

Guinea scored late on in the additional time to break the heart of resilient Equatorial Guinea who despite being reduced to 10 men hold their grit all through.

Equatorial Guinea could have been the one who opened the scoring first, but top scorer Emilio Nsue missed a penalty and blew away their Chances.

It was an even game with both team going against each other, but the final third was missing in both ends. The game looks headed for a full-time goalless draw, but M. Bayo produced a moment of magic in 98minutes to send his country Guinea into the quarter finals.

It is end of the road for Equatorial Guinea who had an incredible tournament making the knockout phase in good fashion, however they would only have themselves to blame as they couldn’t utilize their chances and hence it’s the end of their exploit in Cote d’Ivoire for this year’s AFCON tournament.

Guinea on the other hand will await the winner between Egypt and DR. Congo later tonight to ascertain their quarter final opponent.
