U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations, Linda Thomas-Greenfield, conveyed her commendation for Ghana’s exceptional leadership during a meeting with President Nana Akufo-Addo on the margin of Liberia’s inaugural events.

Expressing gratitude, Ambassador Thomas-Greenfield acknowledged Ghana’s role on the UN Security Council, emphasizing the nation’s valuable contributions to recent resolutions, notably addressing UN financing for African Union Peace Operations.

Key topics of the meeting included joint efforts to combat democratic backsliding in the region and the shared commitment to strengthening partnerships in the fight against violent extremism.

The discussion emphasized the importance of international cooperation in addressing challenges to democracy and security.

Furthermore, Ambassador Linda and President Akufo-Addo talked about the economy of Ghana, and the preparations made for upcoming elections.
