President Joe Biden expressed his satisfaction with the agreement securing the release of hostages held by the terrorist group Hamas since October 7th.

The President, along with First Lady Jill Biden, extended their thoughts to the hostages and their families, emphasizing their relief that some will soon be reunited with their loved ones.

Acknowledging the critical role played by international leaders, President Biden thanked Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani of Qatar and President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi of Egypt for their leadership and collaboration in reaching the deal. He also appreciated the commitment of Prime Minister Netanyahu and the Israeli government in supporting an extended pause to ensure the full implementation of the agreement and the provision of additional humanitarian assistance for innocent Palestinian families in Gaza.

President Biden highlighted the importance of fully implementing all aspects of the deal and expressed his eagerness to engage with the involved leaders to ensure its comprehensive execution.

Emphasizing the safety of Americans held hostage as a top priority, he underscored ongoing efforts by his national security team and regional partners, noting that today’s deal is a result of tireless diplomacy and determination across the United States Government.

The President concluded by reaffirming his commitment to bringing all American hostages home.
