Coffee’s healing properties are still in laboratory stages but it’s immediate benefit is more common than you realise.

Over 50,000 people have been subject in research to establish the benefits of coffee to the body and over 30 years have studies been recorded. Yet millions of people enjoy coffee’s hidden perk everyday. The perk is routine.

“One of the most beneficial parts of your morning coffee routine is just that — it’s routine,” says Serena Ball, a registered dietitian nutritionist.

Very few people have an established beverage or snack that they eat everyday. Even more healthy things than coffee are not consumed religiously. Due to this consistent intake, coffee has been marked as one of the foods thatcan make an impact on people’s health.

Moreover, coffee is like a bonfire that people interact around. The social interaction that comes with getting a cup of coffee at any given time of day has impact on mental wellness including reduction in feelings of loneliness.

Other benefits of coffee that research has uncovered include.

  1. Powerful antioxidant phytochemicals, or plant chemicals which can help block oxidation in the brain and minimize the effects of aging.
  2. Reduce risk of cognitive decline as in the case of dementia and Alzheimer’s disease, according to the FINE study and the CAIDE study.
  3. Serotonin boost for mental health, according to research from Harvard T. H. Chan School of Public Health.
  4. Stress reduction from anti-flammatory compounds

Recommendations

Daily caffeine intake recommendation is 400 milligrams or less.

Best way to consume coffee is in small amounts throughout the morning and not beyond 2pm.
