Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Oyebanji, has expressed deep appreciation to President Bola Tinubu for appointing Lieutenant General Olufemi Oluyede as the new Chief of Defence Staff (CDS).

The governor described the appointment as a recognition of excellence and dedication to service, noting that Oluyede’s elevation reflects the trust the president places in capable and patriotic Nigerians.

In a statement released by his Chief Press Secretary, Yinka Oyebode, on Saturday in Ado Ekiti, Oyebanji commended President Tinubu for considering merit and competence in making the appointment. He said the decision demonstrated the president’s commitment to strengthening the Nigerian Armed Forces with experienced and disciplined leadership.

Governor Oyebanji further praised the new CDS, who hails from Ikere Ekiti, for his outstanding record in military service. He said General Oluyede embodies the virtues of integrity, courage, and loyalty that Ekiti people are known for, adding that his impressive career and leadership qualities make him well-suited for the top military role.

He expressed confidence that the new defence chief would bring fresh ideas and professional expertise to advance the nation’s security architecture. According to Oyebanji, “General Oluyede has consistently proven himself as a patriotic and gallant officer. I am confident that his tenure as Chief of Defence Staff will strengthen the operational efficiency of the Nigerian Armed Forces.”

The governor urged General Oluyede to use his vast experience in guiding the military towards tackling insecurity across the country. He assured the president of Ekiti State’s full support and prayers for the success of the new CDS as he undertakes this crucial national responsibility.

Oyebanji concluded by reiterating his gratitude to President Tinubu for finding a son of Ekiti worthy of such a strategic appointment. He pledged that the people of the state would continue to support national efforts toward peace and stability under the leadership of the president and the new defence chief.
