Self-care is not hard to practice all the time, and it shouldn’t be. It is the foundation of everything else you do.

Here are some tips to make it part of your life.

So why does it feel hard and even gets discarded in some situations?

Self-care looks different for everyone. Trying to achieve a similar self-care routine with someone else, no matter how good theirs looks, is an obstacle to you.

Each person has different needs and they are the compass to self-care that you won’t have to struggle to keep up with.

It is important to identify what you need, not what is “good” or “right” and focus on getting that.

needs may change based on situations and circumstances. However, the roots of self-care don’t change.

Here are five tips to make self-care the root of everything you do.

Give yourself forgiveness

You have to look past mistakes and focus on the lesson. If you beat yourself up over things there will not be another to lift you up. Always be in your corner and learn to laugh at yourself when you run into obstacles.

Know your motivation

Know what motivates you. Chances are that you will have endless energy when you know your energy reserves. Stay connected to why you do the things you do.

Choose ease

Doing hard things is impressive but that is only achievable with smaller manageable steps. Make things easier for yourself as long as it is aligned with your goals.

Know your enjoyments

Create a sense and environment of fun around the things you do. Sometimes you have to push yourself hard for certain things, so focus on making the process fun.

Do it over and over again

You will slip up sometimes no matter how committed or good you are. This is not a sign to stop or that you have failed. Keep doing what you’re doing.
